Super Metroid is the third installament in the Metroid series developed by Nintendo, but is placed chronologically as the seventh game in the series. The game appears on the SNES, Virtual console, and a 3 minute Masterpiece within the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Planet Zebes appeared as a stage in the original game.

Kraid and Ridley appeared as trophies in this game. Also, while Planet Zebes itself didn't reappear as a stage, it served as the setting of the two Metroid stages in the game, Brinstar and Brinstar Depths. Kraid appears in the Brinstar Depths stage.

A remix of the music from the ending credits from this game can he heard while playing on the Norfair stage. Ridley's theme also originates from this game.
