[edit] Move Description

The Light Arrows are Zelda's and Sheik's Final Smash that was shown in CoroCoro magazine beforehand and confirmed at Smash Bros. DOJO!!. When Zelda or Sheik uses her final smash she draws out a large bow and nocks it with a light arrow. The arrow is fired across the stage and everyone within a horizontal line of Zelda (or Sheik) is hit instantaneously. Depending on who uses it, the knockback trajectory will be different. If Sheik uses it then the character hit goes almost parallel to the arrow's trajectory, and if Zelda uses it then the character hit goes at a slightly higher trajectory. Unless the arrow is weakened by several targets, it results in a One-hit KO. When the move hits, the camera dramatically zooms in and rotates around whoever is hit, one after another. This is similar to the Dragoon, in the sense of how multiple targets can be struck, with much power.

Light Arrows are a recurring Weapon in the Zelda series, first appearing in Ocarina of Time and typically playing an important role in the fight against Ganondorf. In Wind Waker, they are obtained in the final dungeon by defeating Phantom Ganon, and are used by Zelda to aid Link in fighting Ganondorf. In Twilight Princess, they are not actually used by Link, instead, during the final battle, Zelda prays to the light spirits and they grant her a Light Bow and Arrow, which she then uses to aid Link in his fight.

[edit] Damage & Properties

The damage & properties of the arrow are slightly different for either character. The move can hit a maximum of 6 targets (Ice Climbers x3) but the damage and knockback weaken in between each target hit. Thus if used on many opponents it may not KO even at higher percents.

Spacing is very important when using the Light Arrow. If your opponents are too close together they may collide with each other and prevent KOs from happening. This is even more important in the Sheik version where opponents are launched at a very low angle.

[edit] Zelda's Light Arrow

  • First Target about 42%
  • Second Target about 32%
  • Last Target about 24%

[edit] Sheik's Light Arrow

  • First Target about 48%
  • Second Target about 36%
  • Last Target about 28%

However these numbers can be further weakened with more targets. (i.e the Ice Climbers)

[edit] Origin

Light Arrows have featured in Zelda games since The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (although they were wielded by Link in said game) and are essential in defeating Ganon/Ganondorf. Zelda's use of them goes as far as The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker where Zelda uses them to fire at Ganondorf, weakening him allowing to Link to attack, later, they must be deflected by Link's mirror shield to hit Ganon allowing Link to attack. Brawl's version of the attack however is taken from The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, where the Light Arrows are created by the light spirits and fired by Zelda on horseback to slow down Ganondorf.

[edit] Trophy Description

[edit] Zelda

Princess Zelda's Final Smash. She wields a mighty bow of light with which she can attack from afar. Her arrow travels in a straight line and flies through all characters unlucky enough to be in the way. This attack cannot be blocked. The more enemies there are, the higher the chances to get them all with one shot. More is always better!

[edit] Sheik

Sheik's Final Smash. After grabbing a Smash Ball, Sheik will be able to wield a bow of light. The arrow fired from this bow has the power to pass through multiple targets, so it will damage all enemies in the direction it flies. This, coupled with its shield-breaking power, makes it even more terrible. Even in Sheik form, Zelda's ability as an archer is undiminished.
