Gulpin (ゴクリン, Gokurin, Gokulin in original Japanese language versions) is a Pokémon that appears as a Poké Ball Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It eats a close opponent and inflicts major damage before spitting them out. If no opponents are around, it will remain sitting until one comes within its range.

[edit] Creature Description

Gulpin is a small green blobby creature with a yellow "feather" on its crest. As the Pokédex says, virtually its entire body is its stomach - its heart and brain are very small in comparison. As a result, it can swallow something its own size in one gulp. The harsh stomach fluid and special enzymes contained within itself can quickly dissolve anything it swallows, even scrap iron. While it is digesting, it expels vile, overpowering gases.

Gulpin first became available in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. It is No#316 on the National Pokedex and is Poison-type. It can evolve into Swalot, a bigger purple version of Gulpin, at level 26.

[edit] In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

[edit] As a Poké Ball Pokémon

When summoned, Gulpin will stay where summoned. If an opponent should come within range of Gulpin, it will open its mouth wide and swallow them. They will receive damage according to the amount they are contained in it. You can also inflict damage to the opponent inside by hitting the Pokemon. They will be abruptly spat out in a few seconds.

The attack cannot harm the user. If playing as the Ice Climbers, if Popo is swallowed, the Ice Climbers will desynch and the player will be able to directly control Nana until Gulpin releases Popo.
