Fireball
From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Fireballs are projectiles launched by Mario and Luigi by using their neutral B attacks. Mario's Fireballs shoot in an angle changing with the angle of the battlefield, while Luigi's are completely unaffected by gravity and are green. Both upon connection cause minor damage and flinching common with other fire-based attacks. Kirby can also use the Fireball move by performing his Inhale move on either Mario or Luigi.
Fireballs are good for interrupting attacks such as laggy smashes and tilts as well as other special moves.
[edit] Origin
The Fireballs originate from the 1985 NES game, Super Mario Bros., where the ability was obtained by grabbing a Fire Flower. This would also change Mario's outfit to red and white.
