Drop Block
From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
The Drop Block is a component which can be added to stages in the Stage Builder. It looks like a wooden block with a downwards-pointing arrow on it. A Drop Block will fall somewhat slowly when stood on or when an item is on it. After a short while, it will respawn. Since players cannot pass through Drop Blocks from the sides or bottom, they can be used in Stage Builder to make one-way passages or initial spawn points. Drop Blocks also appear in some Subspace Emissary levels, although these have different appearances. They are very similar to the Donut Lifts many gamers may remember from Super Mario Bros. 3.
When building a custom stage, Drop Blocks count as the mandatory ground to allow the stage; however, a custom stage can be made with nothing but four Drop Blocks, which will lead to Self-Destructs.
